Lemon chicken and spinach rice

  1. Sear the chicken until golden, then set aside.
  2. Warm the rice with garlic, wilt in the spinach.
  3. Slice the chicken over the top, finish with lemon.

The problem

Fridge full, no idea what to make

You bought good food with good intentions. Now it is 5pm, you are tired, and it is easier to order out than to work out what these random things add up to. So the spinach wilts, the plan slips, and the money goes in the bin.

Illustrative figures used to describe the problem Pantrly is built for, not results from a study we ran. Household food waste in the US is widely estimated at around a third of what is bought, worth well over a thousand dollars a year for a family.

How it works

Three steps, about twenty seconds

01

List or snap what you have

Type your ingredients the way you would say them, half a red onion, some wilting spinach, cold rice. Or snap a photo of the inside of your fridge and Pantrly reads it into a list you can correct. Nothing to weigh, nothing to scan.

Basics like salt, pepper and oil are assumed. The more you list, the more Pantrly can lean on what you already own.

02

Set a diet and a time

Vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free, whatever you need, and how long you actually have tonight. Set an allergy and it is excluded from every idea, strictly. Then say how many you are feeding.

Allergies are the one thing Pantrly never treats as a suggestion. A meal that cannot be made safely is not shown at all.

03

Cook, and shop for only the rest

Pantrly suggests real meals you can make right now, each with clear steps and an honest time. It builds around what is about to go bad first, and the shopping list only ever has what you are genuinely missing.

Most nights there is nothing to buy. When there is, it is one or two things, grouped by the recipe that needs them.

A real one, on a real fridge

Here is an ordinary Tuesday night fridge. Toggle between the meals, what to use up, and the short shopping list. Nothing here is a mockup: it is the product, with the product’s own output.

Lemon chicken and spinach rice bowl

Golden chicken thighs over garlicky rice, finished with lemon and a handful of that spinach before it turns.

From your kitchen

  • chicken thighs
  • cooked rice
  • baby spinach
  • lemon
  • garlic
  • red onion

You will need

  • fresh parsley
  1. 1Season the chicken thighs with salt and pepper. Sear skin-side down in a hot pan until deeply golden, about 6 minutes, then flip and cook 5 more.
  2. 2Lift the chicken out. In the same pan, soften sliced red onion and garlic in the rendered fat for 2 minutes.
  3. 3Add the cooked rice, breaking it up, and warm through so it picks up the pan.
  4. 4Fold in the spinach until just wilted, then squeeze over half the lemon.
  5. 5Slice the chicken, sit it on the rice, and finish with the rest of the lemon and parsley if you have it.

The read

Three dinners from what is already in there, and the spinach gets used up before it turns. You only need a couple of fresh herbs to round them out.

Uses up what is going bad

Pantrly builds around the ingredients about to turn, and tells you plainly which ones and why, so less ends up in the bin.

A smart shopping list

Only what you are actually missing, checked against your pantry, so it never adds what you already have.

Model-agnostic

Reading a photo, suggesting recipes and tidying a list each go to the model that is best at it.

See how the AI works

Built AI-native

The models are the engine, not a feature we bolted on

Pantrly was never a recipe database with search. There is no version of this product without modern language and vision models, because the work is understanding messy real ingredients. No lookup table reads “half a wilting bunch of spinach” out of a dark fridge photo, and none turns “chicken, lemon, cold rice” into a dish you would actually make.

Pantrly is model-agnostic by design. Every step asks for a task, not a model, and one file decides which lab answers. A lab changing its price, its policy or its quality is a configuration change here, not a rebuild. Reading a photo and suggesting a meal can even run on different labs at once.

Routing table, generated from the code

  • Turn your ingredients into real mealsgpt-4.1-mini/balanced
  • Read a photo of your fridge into a listgpt-4.1-mini/balanced
  • Plan a week of dinners from your pantrygpt-4.1/frontier
  • Clean up a messy ingredient listgpt-4.1-nano/fast

Candidates from other labs are declared behind the same interface and switch on when their key is present. The escalation rule and the fallback chain are on the How the AI works page.

Your allergies are respected, strictly

Anything you set as an allergy is left out of every recipe and every shopping list, in any form, and a meal that cannot be made safely is not shown at all. Because ingredients hide under other names, always check the label on packaged food. Pantrly is general cooking help, not medical or dietary advice.

Home cooks

What it changes at dinner

“I had chicken thighs, half a bag of spinach going slimy, and a lemon, and no plan. Pantrly gave me a proper dinner in twenty minutes and used the spinach up. We order out way less now, and the fridge is not a graveyard anymore.”
Renata AlvarezHome cook, Phoenix. Feeds two, cooks most nights.
“My daughter is allergic to peanuts and I am always double checking. Pantrly just leaves them out of everything, and it still finds meals she will actually eat. The photo thing is the winner though, I point it at the fridge and it does the thinking.”
Marcus DengParent of two, Columbus. Family plan, weeknight dinners.
