Pantrly

How it works

From what is in the fridge to what is for dinner

Three steps on the surface. Underneath, five, and the interesting ones are the allergy check that runs before any recipe is shown and the shopping list that only ever has what you are actually missing.

How it works

Three steps, about twenty seconds

01

List or snap what you have

Type your ingredients the way you would say them, half a red onion, some wilting spinach, cold rice. Or snap a photo of the inside of your fridge and Pantrly reads it into a list you can correct. Nothing to weigh, nothing to scan.

Basics like salt, pepper and oil are assumed. The more you list, the more Pantrly can lean on what you already own.

02

Set a diet and a time

Vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free, whatever you need, and how long you actually have tonight. Set an allergy and it is excluded from every idea, strictly. Then say how many you are feeding.

Allergies are the one thing Pantrly never treats as a suggestion. A meal that cannot be made safely is not shown at all.

03

Cook, and shop for only the rest

Pantrly suggests real meals you can make right now, each with clear steps and an honest time. It builds around what is about to go bad first, and the shopping list only ever has what you are genuinely missing.

Most nights there is nothing to buy. When there is, it is one or two things, grouped by the recipe that needs them.

In detail

The five steps

Written out because what makes Pantrly useful is not the model call. It is what happens either side of it.

  1. 01Input

    Tell us what you have

Type your ingredients the way you would say them out loud, half a red onion, leftover rice, some wilting spinach. Or snap a photo of the inside of your fridge and Pantrly reads what it can see into a list you can correct before anything happens. You can do both. Basics like salt, pepper and oil are assumed present.

  2. 02Photo reading

One request, usually under two seconds

When you snap a photo, it goes to a vision model that reads the food it can see and returns a plain ingredient list. Anything the model is not confident about comes back as a confirmation prompt rather than a guess, because a wrong item in your pantry is worse than a missing one. The whole read stays inside one request so there is no back and forth.

  3. 03Allergy and diet checks

    Strict, not advisory

Before any recipe is shown, every ingredient is checked against the allergies and restrictions you set. A meal that cannot be made safely given your restrictions is not shown at all, rather than shown with a warning you might miss. The shopping list runs the same check, so nothing you cannot have appears on it either. We still tell you plainly to check the label on packaged food, because ingredients hide under other names.

  4. 04Recipe building

    Real meals, honest times

Recipes are built around what you actually have on hand, with what is about to go bad used first. Each suggestion comes with clear steps and an honest time that accounts for the ingredients in front of you, not the ingredients in a test kitchen. They are real dishes, not lorem recipes: if a step is wrong in your kitchen, tell us and we fix it.

  5. 05Shopping list

    Only what is genuinely missing

The shopping list is generated by comparing what each recipe needs against your saved pantry. If you already have it, it is not on the list. Items are grouped by the recipe that needs them, so dropping a recipe removes its items from the list as well. Most nights the list is empty or close to it.
